There is renewed pressure on local councils to close an alleyway in Hadley.

The community has long been voicing concerns about the alleyway between Gladstone Street and Manse Road, describing it as poorly lit, inadequately maintained, and a hotspot for crime and antisocial behaviour.

Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council and Telford & Wrekin Council have both faced repeated calls to shut down the alleyway.

Pressure on local authorities has increased following a sexual assault incident involving a schoolgirl in the area in February.

Despite research presented by Telford & Wrekin Council indicating that crime can be reduced by up to 43% through the closure of troublesome alleyways, no action has yet been taken in Hadley.

Residents are now petitioning for the alleyway's closure to prevent further incidents.

Local Councillor Stuart Parr has been at the forefront of this effort, pushing for immediate action.

He emphasises the need for the alleyway’s closure to protect the integrity and safety of Hadley's neighbourhood.

The petition seeks to gather community support to prompt the councils into making a decision similar to those already implemented in other borough areas.

The petition can be accessed here.
