A man who broke into an elderly man's house in Stourbridge, stealing his bank cards and cash, has been jailed for two years and one month.

Glen Yates, 48, of Mount Road, Tividale, admitted burglary and fraud.

The court heard how on 16 November 2025, Yates broke into an address on Hungary Hill at around 4am.

He stole bank cards and cash that were left in the victim's (a man in his 70s) jeans.

He then went on to use one of the bank cards at a petrol station.

PC Luke Johnson, from Dudley's Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “Yates broke into the home of an innocent man in 70s, stealing his money which he then went on to spend at a petrol station.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own homes and we are dedicated to ensuring that offenders face justice for their crimes.”
