Mature drivers in Shropshire are encouraged to take advantage of free awareness sessions designed to help drivers aged 65 and over understand age-related changes affecting their driving.

The sessions are scheduled over the coming months in partnership with West Mercia Police, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, and the West Mercia Police & Crime Commissioner.

Dates and locations include 16th April in Whitchurch and 17th June in Craven Arms, with two sessions available per date, morning (10:00am-12:00pm) or afternoon (1:30pm-3:30pm).

Interested participants must book their place in advance due to limited availability.

To book, email the West Mercia Police Road Safety Team at [email protected] , specifying the desired location and session preference.

Full joining instructions will be provided upon confirmation.

These sessions feature a virtual reality film tailored to educate drivers about the effects of aging on driving, followed by a discussion and Q&A session.

Family members concerned about an older relative's driving are also welcome.

Separate sessions will be held in Telford & Wrekin on 22nd April in Tweedale and 30th June in Newport, with the same time slots available.

Contact Telford & Wrekin Council at [email protected] to book these courses.
