Four men have been jailed, after police recovered a gun and a man was badly beaten by a gang in Birmingham.

Firearms officers stopped the car in Wolverhampton after it was linked to an attack three days earlier Ruskin Street, Birmingham, on 12 September last year, where a construction worker was hot with metal poles.

Both his legs and his left arm were broken and he needed surgery.

The attackers fled in a white BMW car, which was stopped by armed officers three days later, as it travelled into Wolverhampton on the Black Country Route near Spring Vale Island, from London.

Bodyworn video footage shows how four men were ordered out of the car and arrested, and a handgun loaded with 11 rounds was found in the front passenger footwell, along with swords and other weapons in the back of the car.

The men were sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 9 July.

Gurwinder Singh, 25, of Ealing, London, admitted possession of a firearm, ammunition and five swords, and was jailed for five years and 11 months.

Harpandeep Singh, 23, of Hackney, London, was jailed for seven years after being found guilty of the firearm and ammunition charges, and admitting possession of the swords.

Harshehajdeep Singh, 21, of Ealing, London, was jailed six years and eight months after being found guilty of possession of the firearm, ammunition, swords.

Zorawar Singh, aged 31, of no fixed address, was jailed for six years and two months after admitting admitted possession of a firearm, ammunition and five swords

DC Kyle Bowering, from the Major Crime Unit, said: “This investigation has led to the recovery of a loaded gun, as well as swords, which would no doubt have gone on to be used in crime to harm and threaten others.

“These weapons have now been taken off the streets, and those caught with them have been put behind bars for a number of years.”
