Father and daughter convicted of murder in West Bromwich
The duo guilty of covering up the death of 36-year-old Chereiss Bailey

A father and daughter from West Bromwich have been convicted following the discovery of 36-year-old Chereiss Bailey’s body in a canal.
Concerned members of the public raised the alarm on 4th October after finding Bailey's body in the canal network near Ryders Green Road.
Hayley-Marie Ferguson, aged 42, was arrested following the discovery of suspected blood-stained clothing at her home.
After comments made by Ferguson during questioning, her 65-year-old father, John Anslow, was also taken into custody.
Chereiss was tracked on CCTV entering Anslow's address where it's believed she suffered a fatal attack on 27th September.
Anslow and Ferguson reportedly collaborated to move Chereiss' body using a wheelchair, and disposed of her in a canal known locally as 'eight locks' with paving slabs.
Anslow confessed to preventing the lawful burial, while Ferguson faced charges for aiding an offender.
Both were ultimately found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court after a three-week trial.
Chereiss Bailey was remembered by her family as a beloved daughter, sister, and mother, with the family expressing their profound grief over her loss.
Detective Inspector Michelle Cordell described Anslow as posing as a vulnerable wheelchair user while being the perpetrator of a violent attack.
Today’s verdict has been seen as providing a measure of solace to Bailey’s family, who are commended for their dignity during this challenging period.
