Dudley shop thief jailed following spree across multiple boroughs
Chelsea Davies linked to nine counts of shop theft
A prolific shoplifter from Dudley is now jailed after being connected to a string of thefts targeting various stores within the borough.
Chelsea Davies, who has no fixed address, was arrested by Dudley officers on 9th March following a crime spree stealing hundreds of pounds worth of goods.
The spree spanned four days in locations such as Stourbridge, Kingswinford, and Brierley Hill between 4th and 7th February.
Davies, aged 32, then continued thefts on 11th February in Brierley Hill and later on 23rd and 26th February in Rowley Village, Sandwell, and Belmont Road in Lye.
Foursome appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on 11th March, pleading guilty to nine counts of shop theft.
She was sentenced to 18 weeks behind bars and was issued a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
The CBO prohibits Davies from entering any Tesco Express, One Stop, or Morrisons Daily within Dudley borough, Farmfoods on High Street, Brierley Hill, Tesco Express in Rowley Village, and Boots in Market Street, Kingswinford for two years.
PC Luke Tandy, from Dudley Police, emphasized the ongoing efforts to combat shop theft and retail crime.
“Officers across the borough are continuing their efforts to crack down on shop thefts and retail crime that we know cause issues and concerns in our community,” Tandy said.
“We will continue to work alongside businesses and local retailers including store security to identify persistent offenders.
"We want to continue to encourage businesses to carry on reporting incidents to us, so we can put offenders like Davies behind bars and issue CBOs to take action against those causing issues for our local people and businesses.”
