Driver jailed after collision which killed friend in Oldbury
Police say the 20-year-old was overtaking vehicles on the opposite side of the road

A man has been jailed after killing his friend during a collision in Oldbury.
Corey Brown was driving a blue Ford Fiesta on Friday 20 March 2026 along Newbury Lane with his two friends as passengers.
Police say the 20-year-old was driving dangerously, overtaking vehicles on the opposite side of the road and driving at speeds significantly above the 30mph speed limit.
Brown then clipped a central reservation bollard which caused the vehicle to lose control and hit three parked vehicles on a driveway and then a lamppost.
After the collision police say Brown fled the scene, leaving his two friends in the car.
Kristian Danielov, aged 21, was sat in the rear seat passenger seat and sustained serious injuries and sadly passed away in hospital nine days later.
A second man, aged 19, sat in the front passage seat, was also seriously injured during the collision.
During West Midlands Police enquiries, officers established Brown was disqualified from driving and the vehicle he was driving was stolen from an address in the West Mercia force area.
Brown, from Lye, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle and driving offences.
Brown admitted the offences at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to 10 years in prison at Wolverhampton Crown Court last Friday (3 July).
In tribute to Kristian, his family said:
"Kris was only 20 years old, with his whole life still ahead of him. He was full of energy, the life of any room he walked into, with a big heart and a personality nobody could ignore. He loved his family deeply, he was loved beyond words.
"To us, Kris was still our little boy and my little brother. He was a son, a brother, a grandson, a great-grandson, and someone who brought laughter, chaos, and unforgettable memories into our lives.
"He will never get the chance to celebrate future birthdays, build the family he wanted one day, get married, or experience all the milestones he deserved. Our family has lost a piece of itself that can never be replaced, and we will carry our love for him forever."
Detective Sergeant Richard Evans, Serious Collison Investigation Unit said:
“A young man lost his life due to dangerous and reckless driving by someone he called a friend.
“It was a tragic incident, and Brown will now pay the price for actions – spending a long stretch behind bars.
“I hope this sentenced sends a strong message to anyone that thinks it’s ok to drive a car dangerously – your actions could have a devastating impact.”
