A new grant scheme worth £400,000 is launching in Wolverhampton to help high street businesses attract more customers and improve safety.

The city council says small and independent businesses in the city centre, Bilston, Wednesfield and other areas can apply for up to £5,000 for projects like shop front upgrades, interior refits or marketing.

Applications open next Friday (6 March) and are on a first come, first served basis, with businesses expected to provide some of their own funding.

The grants scheme is backed by Government Pride in Place Impact Funding.

Council bosses expect demand to be high.
