Teenager arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Smethwick attack

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was hospitalised with life-threatening injuries in Smethwick.

Emergency services were called out to St Pauls Road just before 8.30pm on 14 June to reports of an attack.

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

A 17-year-old was arrested in Leeds last night (16 June) and will be questioned in the West Midlands.

A 45-year-old man previously arrested will face no further action.

People in the area should expect an increased police presence as patrols are ongoing.
