Sandwell man convicted after 'vicious' assaults on woman
He pleaded guilty to three offences
A man from Sandwell who 'viciously' assaulted a woman twice has been convicted.
26-year-old Asa McGahan pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm and one count of escape from lawful custody.
The court heard how McGahan attacked the victim twice in the same day in October 2024.
The second time, the victim fought back until police arrived.
Officers attempted to arrest McGahan but he ran into nearby woodland.
He was later tracked down and arrested.
“The physical abuse that McGahan inflicted on the survivor in this case was appalling, and I’m pleased we’ve been able to secure this outcome for her" Detective Constable Reece Hingley, who worked on the case, said.
Mc Gahan is set to be sentenced on 1st April.
