Shrewsbury Town have confirmed that head coach Michael Appleton and his assistant Richard O’Donnell have left the club by mutual consent.

It follows last night's defeat to Cambridge United (27th January), with the club 21st in League Two and just two points above the relegation zone.

The pair arrived at the club in March last year.

"Michael and Richard have conducted themselves with professionalism and integrity since arriving", a club spokesperson said.

They continued, "We would like to thank them both for all their hard work during their time at the football club. We wish them the best of luck for the future."

The search for a new manager is underway.
