Wokingham man jailed for smashing a glass in victim's face

A man has been jailed for wounding with intent in Wokingham.
Gary Jordan, aged 50, of Windmill Avenue, Wokingham, was sentenced to four years and six months in prison following a hearing at Reading Crown Court, yesterday (12/3).
Following a four-day trial at the same court, Jordan was found guilty by unanimous jury verdict of one count of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
At around 11.50pm on 30 September 2023, in a pub on Peach Street, Jordan smashed a glass into the victim’s face, causing grievous bodily harm.
The victim, who is aged in his twenties, needed medical treatment for his injuries.
Jordan was arrested on 7 October 2023 and was charged on 20 July 2024.
Shocking
Specialist Investigator Pippa Sharman said: “This was a shocking and entirely unacceptable act of violence, which left the victim with significant injuries.
“I want to thank the many members of the public who came forward in this investigation, especially those who gave evidence at court, but also the courage of the victim to continue with this investigation. This was an unnecessary incident which has caused such harm to those involved.
“Thames Valley Police remains committed to protecting the public and ensuring violent offenders are brought to justice.”
