Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, an unexplained death in Tilehurst has been determined as not suspicious.

Sadly, a 28-year-old woman died in hospital after an incident on the riverbank behind Tilehurst Station at around 11.30pm on Sunday (24/8).

A Home Office post-mortem examination found the woman’s cause of death as inconclusive with further tests required. However, her death is not deemed to be suspicious.

A 39-year-old man from Reading, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, has now been released without charge. No one else is being sought in connection with the death.

Police will prepare a file for the coroner, who will be responsible for confirming the women’s identity.

The scene by the riverbank has been stood down too.
