Great Western Railway (GWR) has celebrated the completion of improvements to Twyford station, which they say are designed to create a more welcoming and secure environment for the thousands of passengers who use the station daily.

A special ceremony was held at the Thames Valley station to mark the official opening of the enhanced facilities, which GWR say deliver a modern, customer-focused travel experience.

The comprehensive upgrade includes:

New open-plan ticket desk, improving visibility and customer service

Enhanced seating areas, providing greater comfort for waiting passengers

New retail facility, offering convenient shopping within the station building

Relocated ticket machines, now inside the building for improved security and weather protection

Upgraded staff facilities, creating better working conditions for station staff

GWR Business Development Director Tom Pierpoint said:

“These improvements represent our commitment to the community we serve and in creating stations that work better for everyone who uses them.

“Over 1.7 million passenger journeys a year are made from this station, and every customer deserves facilities that are modern, secure, and comfortable.

“From the new open-plan ticket desk that makes staff more accessible, to bringing the ticket machines inside where it's safer and more sheltered, every change has been designed with our customers in mind.

“We're also pleased to welcome a new retail site adding convenience for travellers.”
