Two men stabbed in south Reading

Police appeal for witnesses

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault in which two people received stab wounds in Reading.

The incident happened (6/1) in Durham Close, Reading. A member of the public contacted police at about 1.45pm to report two injured men in the Northumberland Avenue / Durham Close area.

Officers attended and the men, aged 41 and 42 years old, were taken to hospital with serious injuries, where they remain at this time.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody at this time.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Katie Smith, based at Reading police station, said:

“This was a violent incident in which we believe all of those involved were known to each other.

“I’d like to ask anyone who was in the area at the time, or who has any information which could help our investigation, to come forward. You could have details which are vital to our investigation.

“I’d also like to reassure people that we do not believe there is a threat to the wider public at this time, but there will be an increased police presence in the area while we investigate this incident.
