Two men have been jailed following a Thames Valley Police investigation into drug supply in Newbury.

David Lopez, 18, of no fixed address, was sentenced to two years and three months, and Alvaro Suarez, 20, also of no fixed address, was sentenced to two years and seven months at Reading Crown Court on 10 December after pleading guilty to multiple drug supply offences.

On 16 October, officers from the Berkshire West proactive team stopped Lopez on Mill Lane following concerns about his behaviour. A search under the Misuse of Drugs Act found cash, a mobile phone with drug-related messages, and cannabis resin. Officers then traced a vehicle linked to Suarez, where further searches uncovered significant quantities of drugs including cannabis, cocaine, MDMA and ketamine, along with cash and phones.

Evidence showed both men had travelled to the UK with the intention of engaging in drug supply. They were arrested on the same day and later charged.
