Around 200 trees will be chopped down by the council in West Berkshire in the coming months.

It says a tree survey of the district found a number of ash trees affected by die back which pose a risk of falling on to the highway.

It says 25 trees will come down along the north side of Ermin Street near Hill Drop Lane in Lambourn.

Another 120 trees along the A339 by Shaw Park, and another 37 along the A4 to Sulhamstead Hill.

The council says there are a handful of other tree species that require felling because of decline, including poplars, willows and elms.

“We anticipate that natural regeneration of local shrubs will fill the gaps,” said the council.
