People in Thatcham are being asked for their views on plans for a new community hub at Brownsfield Road.

The council say it's an opportunity for residents to help shape how the local facility could be used and developed. The feasibility study, led by Adams and Sutherland Architects and Augarde & Partners, is being funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to support communities and places.

Residents are being invited to informal community drop-in sessions at Thatcham Library, where they'll be able to view early plans, explore ideas, ask questions and share views.

Drop-ins

Tuesday 24 February, 5:30pm - 7:00pm

Saturday 28 February, 12:30pm - 2:00pm

Residents who cannot attend a session can also share their views online by visiting our website: https://www.westberks.gov.uk/thatchams-new-community-hub which will detail the same information as shown at the drop-in sessions.

Residents can also provide their feedback via email: [email protected] or write to us: Economic Development Team, Council Offices, Market Street, Newbury, RG14 5LD, by Tuesday 10 March 2026.

Special

Councillor Justin Pemberton, Executive Member for Economic Development and Regeneration at West Berkshire Council and Councillor for Thatcham Town Council, said:

“This is about creating something special for Thatcham - a Community Hub shaped by the people who will use it now and in the future.

“We want residents to tell us what would work, what’s missing and what the town really needs, from sport and wellbeing to culture, events and wider community use.

“This is a genuine opportunity to influence what happens next, and we can only achieve this with your ideas. By getting involved, you can help shape a space that brings people together, meets the needs of future generations and is something the whole town can be proud of, so let’s create our Thatcham Community Hub together.”
