Boys suspected of carrying tools for theft

Two teenagers have been arrested in Basingstoke on suspicion of going equipped for theft after a police foot pursuit on Houndmills Road.

Officers responded to reports of individuals wearing balaclavas and carrying bolt cutters attempting to access bike sheds at around 9pm on 7th June.

Arrests made

Following a brief chase on foot, police detained a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old boy, both from Basingstoke.

Nearby, officers discovered bolt croppers, while a lock knife and rubber gloves were found in one boy’s pockets, and the other was carrying cannabis.

The 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and possession of a controlled Class B drug.

The 14-year-old was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and possessing a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public area.

Both teenagers have been released on bail with conditions, as investigations continue.
