Teenage motorcyclist dies after crash in Reading

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

A teenager has died after a crash in Reading.

At around 11.40pm yesterday (7/7), a red Yamaha motorcycle and black Ford Galaxy were involved in a collision on the A33, at the junction of Island Road and Lindisfarne Way.

The rider of the motorcycle, 18-year-old man from Reading, was given emergency medical treatment, but sadly died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

A 39-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit. He remains in police custody at this time.

Lead investigating officer, Police Sergeant Matt Cadmore of the Serious Collison Investigation Unit, said “We are investigating this incident in which a motorcyclist has sadly died.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this extremely difficult time.

“I would ask anyone who was driving in the area at the time to check their dash-cam footage, as it may have captured something that could help with our enquiries.
