Superintendent Helen Kenny said: “I have taken the decision to extend the Section 60 order to prevent potential further violence. The order gives our officers extra powers to carry out stop and search activities, and you will continue to see an increase police presence in the area. Although no arrests have been made, we do believe that the victim and offenders are known to each other, and we are making good progress with the investigation. If you are stopped by an officer, please do not be worried as this does not mean that you are in trouble. If you are in the area and have any concerns, you can speak to any of our officers who will be on patrol throughout this evening and tomorrow. (Monday 14/7) ”
