Royal Berkshire Fire Service pays tribute to former firefighter

Martyn Sadler was among three people killed during a devastating fire in Bicester in Oxfordshire last week

The Royal Berkshire Fire Service has paid tribute to one of its former firefighters who was killed while battling a devastating fire in Oxfordshire that claimed the lives of three people last week.

RBFRS said it was "devastated" by the deaths of 30 year old Jennie Logan, 37 year old Martyn Sadler and 57 year old Dave Chester.

It said Mr Sadler started his full time firefighter training with the Royal Berkshire and Spent more that 15 years working across a number of roles based at Slough, Langley, and Maidenhead, before taking on a new wholetime role with London Fire Brigade. Martyn was also serving as an On-call Firefighter with Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service.

Wayne Bowcock, Chief Fire Officer, and Councillor Jeff Brooks, Chair of Royal Berkshire Fire Authority said:

"“As a Service we are devastated by the immense loss suffered at the recent fire at Bicester Motion.”

“Our heartfelt thoughts are with the families and friends of Martyn Sadler, Jennie Logan and Dave Chester, and we would like to offer our deepest condolences to all those affected.”

“To Martyn Sadler and Jennie Logan, your bravery and selflessness will never be forgotten”.
