EXCLUSIVE: Reading FC say new investor will be announced soon
Club Chairman Rob Couhig says people are showing interest in the club since his takeover
Reading football club chairman and owner Rob Couhig says he hopes to announce a new investor in the club later this week.
It'll be the second investor to be revealed within the last few weeks, at the end of last month Ross Kestin from Miami-based Aliya Partners joined the board.
Rob told us "it's a furtherence of of our always in place plan to have enough sophisticated investors in it that brings some capital to the table but I don't think it will effect us one iota in terms of our spending habits we are and I think one of the reasons Ross and his guys are interested in us and another who we'll introduce to the public in about a week are very interested in us is we run this club on a business-like basis, we're not here to get a rich guy and turn him upside down and get all of his money so that we can go and spend it on a striker. We're here to build something that will last and that people can be proud of in the long haul."
Knocking at the door
Asked if we was looking for partners who could one day become potential owner he added:
"I don't think we've gone out to attract anybody one of the nice things is people knocking at the door and saying 'hey Rob what do you think?' and so we're trying to be discerning, my business philosophy is you always have to figure out what your succession plan is, I mean we know if something untoward happened to me tomorrow what the plan is and we also know that I'm not planning on anything untoward happening to me for several years!"
