Reading FC sign striker
32-year-old Jamie Reid has signed a two-year deal
Reading Football Club has signed striker Jamie Reid.
The 32-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Royals for an undisclosed fee, bringing to an end a five-year spell with Stevenage.
During his time in Hertfordshire, Jamie scored 69 goals in 245 appearances, helped Boro win promotion from League Two and was later named in the League One Team of the Season.
Born and raised in Devon, Jamie began his career with Exeter City before establishing himself at hometown club Torquay United, where 63 goals in more than 175 appearances earned him a move into the EFL with Mansfield Town.
His form at Stevenage also earned international recognition. Following a 22-goal campaign in 2023/24, Jamie made his Northern Ireland debut and has since scored twice in 16 appearances for his country.
Last season he scored 14 goals as Alex Revell’s side finished fifth in League One and reached the play-offs.
Proven
Leam Richardson said: “Jamie is a proven goalscorer at this level and somebody who has consistently shown what he can bring to a team over a number of years.
“He works incredibly hard, he’s intelligent with his movement and he knows where the goal is. He can lead the line, play off other forwards and gives us another really good option at the top end of the pitch.
“He’s got a lot of experience and, importantly for us, he’s a really good character. He knows this division inside out, he understands what it takes to be successful and you can see he’s still got a real hunger to achieve more.
“He’s coming off the back of another strong season and we’re delighted to bring him to Reading.”
