Reading sign young West Ham star
21-year-old George Earthy is the fifth signing of the summer transfer window

Reading Football Club has signed midfielder George Earthy from West Ham United.
Signing a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, George becomes the fifth incoming of the transfer window so far.
The 21-year-old joined the Hammers at Under-Six and won the FA Youth Cup and Under-18s Premier League in 2023.
Making his first-team debut in 2024, the versatile youngster scored once in five appearances, winning Young Hammer of the Year for 2023/24.
Spending two spells on loan in the Championship with Bristol City, making 51 appearances for the Robins, George won their Young Player of the Year award for 2024/25.
During this time, George has also forged himself a strong international career, playing for England from Under-15 until Under-21 level.
Talented
Manager Leam Richardson said: “We’re really pleased to bring George to the club. He’s a talented young player who already has some very good experience under his belt, both in the Championship and at Premier League level.
“He’s technically very good, he’s creative and he gives us another real attacking threat. He wants to get on the ball and make things happen and we’re excited to be working with him.
“We’ve already got a group with great character and attitude and George will fit into that really well. He’s hungry to play and hungry to improve and to bring a player of his quality here on a permanent basis is really positive for us.”
Delighted
Speaking to RoyalsTV after putting pen to paper, the England Under-21 international cannot wait to get going.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be here. I can’t wait to get started.
“Once I got told Reading were interested, I know how big the club is and with a massive fanbase. It was a no-brainer when Reading came after me and here I am.
“I am an attacking, creative player who will give my all for the badge and for the club. Hopefully I will score goals and pick up assists.
“I joined West Ham when I was four or five and played there throughout the Academy and for the first-team. I went on loan twice, came back and now onto Reading.”
