Reading womens' player collapses during match but now recovering

Sunday's game against Southampton had to be abandoned

Reading women's forward Keren Banduka has been discharged from hospital and is now recovering at home after collapsing during a league match on Sunday.

The incident occurred at Arbour Park during Reading's Southern Premier Division game against Southampton. The match was abandoned after Banduka collapsed in the 35th minute when , at the time, Southampton were leading 1-0.

Players were taken back to the dressing rooms while paramedics attended to Banduka at the scene. She was then transferred to hospital.

Reading provided an update on Monday, reporting that Banduka had been thoroughly assessed and discharged.

The club said: "We would like to thank the medical staff from both clubs and the responding paramedics for their immediate and professional attention."

It was Reading's final match of 2025, and there is currently no word on whether the abandoned game will be replayed.
