A man has been sentenced to 18 years and eight months in prison following a murder conviction at Reading Crown Court.
99-year-old Edwine Kiplangat from London Road, Reading, pleaded guilty to murdering 39-year-old Linner Sang, alongside two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
On 7th September 2025, officers responded to reports of a stabbing on A4 London Road, where Linner Sang was tragically found dead.
Kiplangat and Sang were known to each other, having previously lived together at the address.
Following his arrest on 8th September, Kiplangat was charged on 9th September last year.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart May of Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit expressed condolences to Sang's family, highlighting the premeditated nature of the crime committed after the relationship had ended.
DCI May underscored the gravity of domestic abuse, stating it represents more than isolated incidents, impacting victims' safety and freedom.
He emphasised Thames Valley Police's commitment to protecting domestic abuse victims and holding individuals like Kiplangat accountable.
The police encourage those in abusive situations to seek assistance, reminding the public about Clare's Law, permitting inquiries into a partner's history of abusive behaviour.
A new pilot scheme, Raneem's Law, has been launched to embed Domestic Abuse Specialists within police operations for enhanced victim support.
DCI May urged anyone facing domestic abuse to come forward, reiterating that the police will not tolerate it within communities.
