Reading man jailed for drug-dealing offences
Sentenced to four-and-a-half years following Thames Valley Police investigation
A man from Reading has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison for drug-dealing, following an investigation by Thames Valley Police.
Shane O’Connor, 21, of Beatty Drive, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on 23rd October. He pleaded guilty to three counts of supplying class A drugs, including cocaine, crack cocaine, and heroin, and one count of supplying class B drugs, namely cannabis.
Officers arrested O’Connor at an address in Coronation Square on 10th June. Upon entry, O’Connor attempted to dispose of evidence by throwing two phones out of a kitchen window before being detained.
Recovered items included digital scales, cling film for packaging drugs, and £2,230 in cash. One of the phones contained deleted messages related to drug supply.
O’Connor was charged two days after his arrest. The sentencing judge ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the phones and the forfeiture of the cash.
Investigating officer PC James Dunwell, of the Reading Neighbourhood Disruptions team, based at Reading police station, said: “Shane O’Connor’s sentencing is another example of how we will target, disrupt and prosecute drug-dealers, with both visible and covert activity.
“The information from the public around illegal drugs supply in Reading plays an important role in bringing offenders to justice and protecting our communities."
