A man has been charged with motoring offences after a serious road traffic collision in Reading left a child injured.

Matthew Haylett, 33, from Reading, is charged with several offences, including causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The collision occurred on 27th February in Rushey Way, resulting in the child currently remaining in hospital for treatment.

Other charges against Haylett include failing to stop for police, failing to stop at the scene, failing to report the accident, driving without insurance, and driving outside the conditions of his license.

He was remanded into custody on 3rd March and will appear for sentencing at Reading Crown Court at a date yet to be confirmed.

Due to a police vehicle being present near the collision site, a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct for independent review.
