Brian Sharp sentenced for controlling behaviour, violence, and threats
Brian Sharp, 47, from Basingstoke Road, Reading, has been sentenced to five years in prison for multiple domestic abuse offenses following an investigation by Thames Valley Police.
The sentencing occurred at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday, 17th June, after Sharp pleaded guilty to charges on Monday that intended to be the first day of his trial.
Details of the Abuse
Sharp faced convictions for two counts of controlling/coercive behaviour and one count each of intentional strangulation and making threats to damage property.
Between 30th April and 18th December last year, Sharp subjected the victim to controlling behaviour, including restrictions on her contact with family and friends and monitoring her phone communications.
His conduct escalated into physical violence, including assaults and strangulation.
Officer's Statement
Investigating officer PC Ben Coxhead highlighted the severe nature of Sharp’s actions, emphasising the control, intimidation, and psychological harm inflicted upon the victim.
Coxhead commended the victim for their courage and resilience throughout the legal proceedings.
He affirmed Thames Valley Police's commitment to pursuing domestic abuse perpetrators and safeguarding victims.
