A serving officer from Thames Valley Police is facing charges of sexual assault in connection with an incident that occurred while he was off duty.

PC Brendon Dowd, currently based at Reading police station, was charged on 12th May with one count of sexual assault by touching a woman aged over 16.

The incident took place in St Mary’s Butts, Reading, on 14th April last year.

Following the charges, PC Dowd has been suspended from his duties pending legal proceedings.

He is expected to appear before Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 16th June, which will address the serious allegation.
