A driver has been arrested after a police dog located multiple bags of suspected cocaine following a proactive stop in Hartley Wintney this morning.

An officer from the Road Policing Unit was on patrol when he noticed suspicious activity linked to a Vauxhall Astra on the A30 at around 4am on Tuesday 16 June.

The car was stopped and the driver took a preliminary saliva test, which gave an indication for cocaine.

The Dog Unit then arrived to carry out a search and police dog Major located 18 snap bags of suspected Class A drugs hidden inside the vehicle. All items were seized.

A 39-year-old man from Doncaster was arrested on suspicion of:

Possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A

Driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit

He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
