Pedestrian dies in collision on the M4 in west Berkshire

Motorway was closed for more than 12 hours while police investigated

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision on the M4 in West Berkshire in which a man has died.

At around 9.40pm yesterday (7/1), a collision occurred where by a pedestrian who is believed to have been earlier driving a grey Hyundai Iconic, has been struck as they were crossing the carriageway.

The incident happened on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 between junctions 15 to 14.

Tragically, the pedestrian, a man in his eighties, died from his injuries. The carriageway was closed for some time while recovery and investigation was ongoing.

Investigating officer Sergeant Lyndsey Blackaby, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said:

“We are investigating this collision in which a man has tragically died.

“Our condolences and thoughts are with their loved ones. The man’s next of kin has been informed and they are being supported by specially trained officers.

“We are appealing for anyone with dash-cam footage or witness information to please come forward, calling 101 or reporting online, quoting reference 432400009724.

“We would like to thank the public for their patience while we conducted our enquiries.”
