Pedestrian in 70s hospitalised after being hit by car in Berkshire

He suffered fractures to his hip and wrist

A pedestrian in his 70s has been hospitalised after being reportedly hit by a car in Newbury.

Officers say the incident happened on Northbrook Street last Friday evening (3rd October).

The man in his 70s suffered fractures to both his hip and wrist.

No arrests have been made but police are appealing for witnesses.

A Thames Valley police spokesperson said, "At approximately 7.30pm on Friday, a silver/grey hatchback has been involved in a collision with a pedestrian on Northbrook Street near to the Monument Public House.

"It is believed the vehicle has mounted the pavement while the driver formed a manoeuvre and in doing so, has been involved in a collision with the pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a man aged in his seventies, sustained fractures to his hip and wrist and was treated in hospital, where he remains at this time."
