A significant police operation has resulted in a partial closure order for a property in Basingstoke, following a warrant executed in response to drug-related concerns.

Officers from the Basingstoke Neighbourhood Policing Team attended an address in Lundy Close, Popley, on 15th April where they discovered a substantial amount of cannabis.

On 17th April, Basingstoke Magistrates Court granted the partial closure order after reviewing evidence of anti-social behaviour linked to drug activity at the property.

The order restricts entry to the property for the next three months, allowing only authorised individuals on the court order to enter. Breaching this order could lead to arrest.

A 54-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B controlled drug but has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.

PS Karla Leese commented on the action: “We know that drug activity and anti-social behaviour have a significant, long-lasting impact on our communities, and we recognise the distress it can cause to local residents.”

She reassured residents, stating, “But I want to reassure you that our teams listen to your concerns and will take the necessary positive action to reduce the levels of ASB and drug-related activity in your area. I’m pleased to say that the partial closure order was granted at court, and I hope it proves to the local community that we will do all we can to ensure Basingstoke remains a safe and enjoyable place to live, work and visit.”
