70-year-old killed in collision near Newbury

A 70-year-old man has tragically died after a collision in Newtown south of Newbury.
Officers received a report at 12noon on Wednesday (24 September) of a collision involving a blue Piaggio motorbike and a white DAF flatbed lorry on the A339 Basingstoke Road near Newbury.
Very sadly, the rider of the motorcycle, a 70-year-old man from the Isle of Wight area, was declared dead at the scene.
Although formal identification has not yet taken place, the man’s next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by specially trained officers.
No arrests have been made.
Investigating officer Sergeant Sarah Davies, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the motorcyclist who has sadly died in this collision.
“I am appealing for any witnesses who saw what happened and have not already spoken to the police to please come forward.
“I am also keen to speak to any motorists who have captured footage of the incident or the moments leading up to it on their dash-cams."
