A man from Basingstoke has been jailed for 12 weeks after pleading guilty to stalking a woman.

36 year old Carl Gonzalez followed the woman's car, entered her home without permission, and showed up unannounced while she was shopping.

He also continuously loitered near her home between December 2025 and January 2026.

Police Staff Investigator Daniel Stockley from Northern CID stated: “Our officers take reports of stalking incredibly seriously and we encourage anyone who has been affected by this type of behaviour to contact police.

Carl Gonzalez’s behaviour was completely unacceptable as no-one should have to live with such levels of harassment and unwanted contact.

I would like to thank the woman and the witnesses for coming forward and reporting this to police, and for their help throughout the investigation.”

There are support services available for those who do not feel comfortable contacting the police directly, offering assistance to victims of stalking.
