Man jailed for 20 years for rape offenses

A man has been jailed for 20 years for rape and other offences in Reading.

45 year old David Cameron, of Bankside Close, Reading, will serve the sentence with a further 6 years to be served on licence.

Cameron was found guilty of four counts of rape, one count each of perverting the course of justice, witness intimidation, actual bodily harm (ABH), sexual assault by penetration, criminal damage, strangulation, suffocation, threats to kill and coercive control.

On 2 December 2023, Cameron was arrested following reports of abuse spanning a total 8 years.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Ben Rimmer said: “David Cameron committed violent and unacceptable acts on his victim.

“This kind of assault and abuse is never acceptable and I hope this conviction and lengthy custodial sentence shows that we listen, investigate fully and take every action possible to safeguard victims against offenders.

“I would encourage any victims of assault and abuse to come forward to police or other support agencies.
