A man from Reading has been jailed after he pleaded guilty to a number of offences including burglary, theft and fraud.

Carl Hunter, aged 42, of The Meadway, Tilehurst, was sentenced on Thursday 28 November to two years and five months’ imprisonment.

It’s after he pleaded guilty to one count of burglary other than in a dwelling, burglary in a dwelling, theft from a shop, and fraud be false representation at Reading Crown Court.

On 27 July, Hunter broke into a shop on Bath Road, and took items from the shop including scratch cards.

Two days later on 29 July, Hunter then attended another shop in Gatehampton Road, Goring, where he took an item without paying.

The same day he then broke into a house on Reading Road, where he took jewellery and a bank card. He then went to a shop on West Street, Reading and attempted to use the card he had stolen.

Unacceptable

Detective Constable James Clancy, said:

“These are serious offences which have rightly resulted in a conviction and sentence for the offender.

“Hunter will now have plenty of time in prison to consider his unacceptable behaviour, which Thames Valley Police will never tolerate.

“We will continue to bring before the courts those who carry out offences such as this that have an impact on our communities.”
