Man dies days after New Year's Day assault in Andover
A man has been charged in connection with the assault.
A man has died following an alleged assault in Andover in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Police were called at 2.53am on 1st January to London Street in the town centre, where Juan Valenzuela, a 48-year-old from Andover, was left with a serious head injury.
He was taken to hospital but died on 4th January. His family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
Kyle Barnett, a 36-year-old, has been charged in connection with the case.
Barnett, of Rydal Way, Clay Cross, Derbyshire, was arrested the day after the alleged assault.
He appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on 2nd January, charged with wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
Barnett was bailed and is now set to appear at Winchester Crown Court on 4th February.
Police have confirmed they are working with the Crown Prosecution Service as their enquiries continue.
