Man charged following serious assault in Andover town centre

A man has been charged in connection with a serious assault that occurred in Andover town centre.

Police were called at just before 3am on New Years Day after receiving a report that a man in his 40s had been injured during an incident on London Street.

The injured man was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries and remains under medical care.

36 year-old Kyle Barnett, of Rydal Way, Clay Cross, Derbyshire, was arrested as part of police enquiries.

Barnett has now been charged with wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
