Man charged following attempted kidnap in Andover

The 28 year old from Newquay has been charged several offences

A man from Newquay has been charged with multiple offences as Hampshire Police investigate an attempted kidnap in Andover.

Police were called at around 5:30pm on Monday (2 March) to a report that a woman in her 50s had been struck by a large white van and grabbed by the driver on Micheldever Road.

28 year old Sean Haverty of Vyvan Drive in Newquay, has been charged with the following:

  • Kidnap with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm
  • Non-fatal strangulation
  • Dangerous driving
  • Attempting to pervert the course of justice

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Basingstoke Magistrates Court today.
