Officers have arrested a 35-year-old man after discovering bags of suspected cocaine during a vehicle stop in Old Basing last night.

The stop took place at around 9.30pm when police patrolling London Road noticed suspicious activity involving a silver BMW.

The vehicle was later stopped on Crabtree Way. Once searched, officers uncovered 45 bags of suspected cocaine, a claw hammer, and almost £1,000 in cash.

The driver of the vehicle also failed a roadside drug wipe test, leading to his arrest while all the items and the BMW were seized. The man, who has no fixed address, remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Officers arrested him on suspicion of numerous charges including possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, driving with a proportion of controlled drugs above the limit, and driving without valid insurance or licence details.
