Man arrested after fences set on fire in Basingstoke

A 37-year-old remains in custody following reports of suspected arson in Oakridge

A man has been arrested in Basingstoke after fences near properties were set on fire in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called at 3.50am today, 7th January, to reports of fires on Normanton Road and Jefferson Road in the Oakridge area.

The fires were extinguished by the fire service, and no injuries were reported.

Police officers attended the scene and arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of arson. He remains in custody as investigations into the incident continue.
