Attempted murder investigation in Reading

Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted murder in Reading.

Officers were called to Kennet Walk at around 9pm yesterday (9 April), following a report of a serious assault.

A man in twenties received care at the scene from paramedics and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

We're told the offender is being sought at this time.

A cordon is in place and officers are tasked with conducting patrols in the area.

Leading investigating officer Detective Inspector Jon Morley said: “I understand that this will cause concern but I would like to reassure the community that we do not believe there is a threat to the wider public as a result of this incident.

We are in the early stages of our investigation and you will see a significant presence in the area from uniformed and detective colleagues for some time.

I would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who has any information that could assist our enquiries to please get in touch.
