Woman left with life-threatening injuries after crash in Maidenhead

A woman has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a serious collision in Maidenhead.
Thames Valley Police were alerted to an incident taking place in the Tesco Express car park on Furze Platt Road between 5pm and 5:15pm on July 16th.
When officers arrived in the area, they found that a pedestrian had been hit by a silver Mercedes van.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, was taken to hospital shortly after the arrival of emergency services and has since been left with injuries which doctors have said are "life-threatening". She currently remains in hospital.
Following their lines of investigation, officers arrested a 56-year-old man from the Maidenhead area on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless/inconsiderate driving.
The suspect has since been released from police custody but remains under investigation while enquiries are being carried out.
Speaking on the incident, Detective Sergeant Robert Chevalier from Thames Valley Police said: "An investigation into this incident in which a woman has sadly sustained life-threatening injuries is underway.
