The M4 in east Berkshire is partially closed this weekend.

The westbound carriageway of the motorway will be closed between junctions 6 Slough Central and 7 Slough West from 6am on Saturday until 6am on Monday.

National Highways say this will allow contractors to carry out essential resurfacing, providing a smoother, quieter road for both drivers and communities nearby for many years to come.

Among those who may be impacted by the works are holidaymakers travelling to and from Heathrow airport, families making trips to Legoland and football fans heading to Reading’s clash with Stevenage at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Disruption

Anup Shrestha, National Highways Service Delivery Manager, said: “For the work to be carried out safely, and to allow time for the materials to cure, we need to close this section of the motorway for the whole weekend.

“We acknowledge there may be some disruption as a result, but doing so removes the prospect of multiple closures being needed for smaller-scale repairs in future.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank drivers for their patience and remind anyone using this part of the M4 to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes where possible.”

Westbound traffic will be diverted off the M4 at junction 6 and onto the A355 and the A4, before rejoining the motorway at junction 7.
