Man handed football ban for bringing knife to Reading match

A man from Kent has been issued a three-year Football Banning Order after bringing a knife to a Reading FC match.
Lewis Campbell-Williams, 21, of High Street, Brasted, appeared at Slough Magistrates’ Court, facing charges following the incident.
Campbell-Williams pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and theft from a shop earlier this year.
His actions date back to 18th April, during the Reading v Cardiff City match at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
He was witnessed displaying a shiny object and acting in a threatening manner toward away supporters.
Police intervened, discovered the bladed article, and arrested Campbell-Williams.
He was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for 18 months, ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work, and pay £272 in costs.
PC Steve Mountain, the Dedicated Football Officer for Reading FC, emphasised the importance of maintaining football stadium safety.
“The Football Banning Order imposed on Campbell-Williams means he is prohibited from attending regulated football matches in the UK for the next three years."
Campbell-Williams must also surrender his passport during designated overseas tournament periods, preventing him from attending international fixtures involving England.
