Two men have been arrested in Wembley, London, as part of an investigation into the importation of more than 300kg of cannabis with a street value of up to a million pounds.

Officers from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) carried out the arrests on Friday, supported by Thames Valley Police, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, and Border Force.

The men, aged 42 and 35, were taken into custody on suspicion of importing cannabis.

A third man involved in the operation was released without charge.

The arrests follow the discovery of a large quantity of cannabis at Heathrow Airport last Tuesday.

Detective Inspector Dean Garvin from SEROCU said the arrests were part of a wider effort to tackle large-scale drug importation in the UK.

“These arrests are part of an investigation into the large-scale importation of cannabis into the UK.

“The South East Regional Organised Crime Unit work closely with partners and we will use every tactic at our disposal to disrupt and dismantle these gangs and help reduce the blight of this type of criminality," he said.
