A new collaboration has been launched by Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with Thames Valley Police to tackle violence, aggression, and abuse directed at healthcare staff.

Last year saw 1,576 incidents recorded across Berkshire that included threats, abuse, and assaults on staff.

Operation Cavell is a national initiative aimed at enhancing the response of NHS organisations and police forces to hostile and abusive behaviour encountered by healthcare practitioners.

The Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust emphasises that aggression and abuse should never be considered a normal part of working in healthcare.

The Trust urges everyone, including patients, carers, and the public, to interact with kindness and respect, ensuring a safe working environment for medical personnel.
